Jon (or JD), was previously a Vice President at Electronic Arts, where over his 10 years with the company he served as Executive Producer of the Bejeweled and Plants vs. Zombies franchises, and Co-General Manager of the PopCap studio.
His history leading some of the world’s most popular and beloved games at PopCap is the perfect background for creating a game that captures the magic of being an esports fan.
Since spinning out of PSL and raising $1.75 million led by Foundry Group in August of 2017, Taunt has shipped an alpha product for the League of Legends World Championships, and is currently in closed beta. JD has been working with the team overseeing product development on the beta since January, and it’s been electrifying to see the early response from the community.
Taunt is the best way to watch esports: a game that challenges fans and their friends to compete against each other (or the rest of the world) during live professional matches. Players use their knowledge to answer live challenges, predict game events, and take action against friends and rivals to rise to the top of the leaderboards. Light-hearted trash talk is rampant amongst esports fans that believe they know the game best. Taunt lets them prove it.
If you’re interested in trying out the beta (and if you’re an esports fan, you should!), you can go sign up at playtaunt.com.
